The Butterfly is one of the first inverted tricks pole dancers learn after they’ve mastered the leg hangs. After only a few weeks, the Butterfly is already a comfortable go-to trick.
From there, it doesn’t take much longer until they master the Extended Butterfly as well.
These are classic intermediate level tricks.
And what’s typical for the intermediate (and advanced) level plateau is that students do the same classic combos over and over again:
Leg hang ► Butterfly ► Flatline Scorpio ► Superman
They get stuck in these combo patterns and nothing new comes to mind (A reader once told me that she feels like a „one-trick pony“).
And that’s why it’s important to actively search for interesting variations, entries, exits and combos of „standard“ moves that you already know. Teaching your mind and your body a new variety of connections will help you move past the typical pole combos, start exploring new shapes and maybe start creating routines on your own.
Here’s a compilation with 5 Butterfly combos I taught in my Pole Inversions online classes. They are sorted by difficulty and include a list of the moves.
You can purchase the full-length video lessons that will teach you the exact progressions, shapes and combos with Butterfly in the on-demand library of The Pole Dancer.
Have you tried any of these combos? How did you like them? Let me know in the comments!
